Rabbi Jacks - Blazing new spiritual paths

Blazing new spiritual paths. The sub 4-minute mile was considered physically impossible until Roger Bannister ran it. Today thousands of elite athletes accomplish this feat every day. Is there a collective consciousness that effects all our abilities? How do private actions create cosmic ripples? Are there scientific experiments that can test this phenomenon? How can we tap into a universal force to become a spiritual pioneer, and not merely part of the herd mentality.

“How to kill an animal, humanely” with Rabbi Meir Shlomo Kluwgant

"How to kill an animal, humanely" Following a Four Corners report into the export of live animals for slaughter, there has been an uproar about abattoir practices in Moslem countries. There are now moves to ban all live exports, and a spillover objection into local kosher and halal slaughtering practices. Is the traditional method of shechita barbaric? How does it compare to other contemporary methods? What is the impact of animal stunning? Hear first hand from a professional shochet, who will discuss the process and theology behind Jewish ritual slaughter.

From a lunchtime lecture held on July 7th 2011. Click here to go to the JBD event page.
